Corporate Social Responsibility.

Wikipedia says:

“CSR policy functions as a self-regulatory mechanism whereby a business monitors and ensures its active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards and national or international norms. With some models, a firm’s implementation of CSR goes beyond compliance and engages in “actions that appear to further some social good, beyond the interests of the firm and that which is required by law.” CSR aims to embrace responsibility for corporate actions and to encourage a positive impact on the environment and stakeholders including consumers, employees, investors, communities, and others.”

Our CSR initiative comes in the form of _FRESH Material. It’s a broad initiative, which includes; junior and senior staff members mentoring new graduates we’ve employed as interns, Materialites speaking at Universities to undergrad, Masters and PHD Students. Or before even deciding on higher education, Materialites donate their time to speak to school students at Career Events and in a number of High Schools.

We offer work experience opportunities and we are pretty proud of our newly flourishing relationship with St. Paul’s High School in Glasgow’s Southside (this relationship was facilitated in partnership with Glasgow City Council’s Enterprise and Education Team). At St. Paul’s we hold panel discussions, we brainstorm with students, help with UCAS applications, and we explain the industry to the best of how we know it, understand it and see it developing.

At Material we are proud of our CSR initiatives. We want our staff to give back, feel a sense of pride in our community and imprint some knowledge and values on the next round of marketers before they are let loose on the industry. However, and perhaps most crucially, we are also clear to drive home to Materialites, that these experiences are about learning something too: there’s much that can be learnt from the young people involved in these projects.

Not to be dramatic but it all boils down to being a human being. A citizen of Earth with something valuable to share for a greater good. We got here through hard work and helpful people. Let’s now become those helpful people.

If you want more information on _FRESH Material or if you are interested in working with us in some capacity then please email Danni@materialmc.co.uk and we will see how we can work together.
